Happy February, the month of hugs and kisses because of Valentine's
Day. Let's not forget to embrace ourselves too! In this wonderful
Flying Unicorn community, we are very supportive of each other and

Here is my example:
Although I try all types of art and my craft is continually
evolving, I am most comfortable creating smaller pieces such as
tags and cards in a vintage style. I seem to enjoy fussy
cutting such as cutting out this photo of myself which is my
cyberspace bonnet photo. I like trims better than flowers, and I
collect ephemera at flea markets and auctions to add into my art.
My first design team gig was stamping cards. I own a lot of
stamps, rubber and acrylic, but I don't use them often enough. I
belong to a stamp club that likes to get grungy in the style of
Tim Holtz and Wendy Vecchi. Nevertheless, I'm leaning towards a
cleaner vintage style such as the all white tags we recently
made. Because I'm a paperholic and love working with paper as
well as collage images, my goal this year is to get comfortable
with paint and incorporate it into my vintage style.
I am embracing this new vintage style of mine that includes paint
and am brave enough to show you my very first painted
page---actually it's a painted wood page from a 3 board tabbed
mini album. And although it's my first painted page, this
actually is the back cover.
I used 3 stamps on this--the tree, the word "art" on the car, and
the bricks. The bricks are from the Graphic 45 Magic of Qz 2
stamp set available in the Flying Unicorn store. You may
recognize the Tim Holtz Old Jalopy sizzex die. Kaiser arrow
rub-on. Paint is ArtQest--I took a workshop from the owner 1-1/2
years ago in which we painted on cards and ATCs. I bought some
paints that day and finally opened the jars! I did some
journaling around the tree: It's not the destination, It's
the Journey. That's a pic of me in the car (fussy cut of
course) and I used acrylic from a package for the car windows.
Here is the RAK you could win!
